How to name your holiday rental

1. Choose the theme first

Experienced hosts rarely start with the name. They decide what the place should feel like — coastal, rustic, Mediterranean, minimalist — and let the name, the photos and the decor come from that. A name that matches what guests see in the photos is easier to remember and easier to trust.

2. Make it easy to say on the phone

Read every candidate out loud, as if you were giving it to a guest over the phone. If you have to spell it, it will be typed wrong in messages, searches and reviews. Two or three short words beat a clever one nobody can spell.

3. Avoid brands and numbers

Leave platform and hotel brands out of the name: they belong to someone else. Numbers (“Apartment 2B”, “Casa 7”) are forgettable and get mixed up with the street address.

4. Check it is free everywhere you need it

Before you print cards or order a sign, check that the name is free on Instagram, as a web domain and on gstl.ink. Every suggestion above shows the gstl.ink status straight away.

5. Let the name shape the photos and the decor

Once you have a name, use it. “Salt House” wants linen, light wood and morning light; “The Owl Lodge” wants a fire and wool throws. The theme kits below give you a starting palette and three photo ideas for each vibe.

Theme kits: a palette, photo ideas and a bio line

Each vibe in the generator comes with a kit. Use it for the photos, the decor and the first line of your bio.

Coastal

Sea air, bleached wood and linen that dries in the sun.

  • Sea mist #DCE8E6
  • Driftwood #B9A58A
  • Harbour blue #2F5D7C
  • Sailcloth #F6F2EA

Photos & decor

  • Shoot in the first hour of morning light, with the windows open and linen moving in the breeze.
  • Bleached wood, rope and stoneware in sandy tones. One blue accent per room, not five.
  • Frame one shot of the view from the bed: it is the photo guests share.

Bio line

“Salt on your skin, sand at the door. Five minutes to the water.”

Rustic

Timber, stone and a fire that is already lit when guests arrive.

  • Hearth #8C4A2F
  • Moss #5E6B3A
  • Oat #E8DCC4
  • Charcoal #2E2B28

Photos & decor

  • Light the fire before the shoot and let it show in at least one photo.
  • Wool throws, cast iron and one big wooden table. Texture over colour.
  • Show the view from the porch at golden hour, with two mugs on the rail.

Bio line

“Stone walls, a real fire and nothing on the calendar.”

Mediterranean

Whitewash, terracotta, olive trees and long lunches in the shade.

  • Whitewash #F7F4EE
  • Terracotta #C4623F
  • Olive leaf #7A8450
  • Aegean #1F5E8C

Photos & decor

  • Shoot the table set outside, in the shade, with bread, olives and a jug of water.
  • Terracotta pots, linen, rattan and one old wooden door as a backdrop.
  • Hard midday light works here: let the white walls and deep shadows do the work.

Bio line

“Whitewashed walls, lemons on the tree, lunch that runs into dinner.”

Scandinavian

Pale wood, soft light, wool and very little else.

  • Snow #F4F4F1
  • Pale birch #D9C9AE
  • Fjord grey #6F7C85
  • Pine #2F4A3E

Photos & decor

  • Soft window light, no flash. Candles lit even in daytime shots.
  • Pale wood, wool, sheepskin and ceramics. Leave empty space on every surface.
  • One photo of the bed made up with thick linen and a book on the pillow.

Bio line

“Wool socks, a warm sauna and silence you can hear.”

Bohemian

Plants, patterns, rattan and souvenirs from somewhere far away.

  • Marigold #E0A030
  • Rust #A54A2A
  • Sage #9CAF88
  • Indigo #3A3F7A

Photos & decor

  • Plants in every shot. Big ones. Let them spill over shelves and windows.
  • Layer rugs, cushions and throws in warm, clashing patterns.
  • Warm late-afternoon light and a hammock or floor cushions guests can picture themselves on.

Bio line

“Plants, rugs from far away and a hammock with your name on it.”

Mid-century

Teak, clean lines, a record player and a cocktail at sunset.

  • Teak #9A5B34
  • Mustard #D9A23A
  • Avocado #6B7A3B
  • Cream #F3EAD8

Photos & decor

  • Shoot straight on, level with the furniture: mid-century lines look best without tilt.
  • Teak, a sunburst mirror, one bold armchair and a record player with sleeves on show.
  • A dusk shot with lamps on and a drink on the side table.

Bio line

“Teak, vinyl and a pool that catches the last sun.”

Tropical

Big leaves, warm rain, hammocks and fruit on the table.

  • Monstera #2E6B45
  • Lagoon #2AA5A0
  • Papaya #F08A4B
  • Sand #F2E6CF

Photos & decor

  • Get the green in: shoot from inside looking out through leaves and open shutters.
  • Rattan, bamboo, white linen and a bowl of local fruit on the table.
  • One photo of the outdoor shower or hammock. It sells the whole stay.

Bio line

“Barefoot days, warm rain on big leaves, mango for breakfast.”

Vintage

Old things with a story: brass, lace, books and a creaky staircase.

  • Faded rose #D8A7A0
  • Brass #B08D57
  • Bottle green #2F4B3A
  • Parchment #F1E7D3

Photos & decor

  • Warm lamp light, not daylight. Shoot at dusk with every lamp on.
  • Mix one real antique per room with simple modern comfort, so it reads charming and not dusty.
  • Close-ups sell this theme: a teacup, a brass key, a stack of old books.

Bio line

“Creaky stairs, brass keys and books older than all of us.”

Minimalist

Plaster walls, natural light and nothing you do not need.

  • Plaster #EFEBE4
  • Stone #B8B2A7
  • Graphite #3C3C3A
  • Oak #C9A97C

Photos & decor

  • Clear every surface before the shoot, then add back one object per room.
  • Natural light only. Shoot at the brightest time of day and keep the white balance neutral.
  • Show the lines: a doorway, a shadow on a plaster wall, a single chair.

Bio line

“Light, space and nothing you do not need.”

Luxe

Marble, velvet, a deep bath and champagne in the fridge.

  • Onyx #1E1D1B
  • Champagne #E6D5B8
  • Deep green #23473B
  • Brushed gold #B8964E

Photos & decor

  • Shoot the bathroom like the bedroom: it is where luxury shows first.
  • Fewer, better things. Marble, velvet and brass; no clutter, no cheap plastics in frame.
  • One evening shot with warm light, the bed turned down and a bottle on ice.

Bio line

“A deep bath, heavy linen and a view worth staying in for.”

Questions hosts ask

Is the property name generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, there is no sign-up, and you can ask for as many rounds of names as you like.

How do I know if a name is available?

Each suggestion shows whether gstl.ink/<name> is free right now. That only covers gstl.ink. Before you print anything, also check Instagram, the web domain and your country’s business and trademark registers.

Why pick a theme before the name?

Because the name, the photos and the decor should tell the same story. Choose the feel first and the name follows. The theme kit gives you a colour palette, photo ideas and a bio line to match.

Should I put the town or region in the name?

If the place is part of why people book, yes: “Casa Comporta” tells guests where and what in two words. Keep it short, and skip it if you might open a second property somewhere else under the same name.

Can I use Airbnb, Booking or a hotel brand in my property name?

Better not. Platform and hotel brand names belong to their owners, and using them confuses guests and can cause trouble later. This generator never suggests them.
